Boston is a city that's steeped in history. It has a rich culture and some of the best seafood in the world. It was founded in 1630, making it America's oldest settlement. You can see some of the oldest buildings there today by visiting Faneuil Hall Marketplace or Quincy Market where they have lots of shops and restaurants that are fun to explore with your friends!
Make sure to pick up a "Freedom Trail" map, which is a walking trail through Boston, with so many historical locations along the way, you'll see Paul Revere's house and the North Church!
While it can be a little bit more expensive than other cities, there are still plenty of things to do on a budget if you know where to look.
Here are my top 5 picks for places to see while visiting Boston:
Boston Harbor is home to the USS Constitution and is a popular tourist destination. There are many things to do in Boston Harbor, such as kayaking, sailing and swimming. Many places in Boston Harbor have restaurants where you can eat seafood or various other foods. When we visited Boston we purchased tickets to a Sunset Dinner Cruise with Spirit Cruises. This cruise provided some of the best views of the city with great food and drinks to accompany the sea air!! Would highly recommend if you are traveling with that special person in your life and want to treat them to a truly special night on the town!! Some hotels in Boston Harbor offer rooms that overlook the water so you can enjoy views of the city from your room if cruises aren't on the list.
If you're a sports fan, then this iconic field is a must see! Home of the famous "Green Monster", a 37 foot high left field wall. Fenway Park is home to the Boston Red Sox. Fenway Park was constructed in 1912, making it one of the oldest stadiums still in use today. It has a capacity of just over 38,000 people, making it an intimate venue for baseball fans looking for an authentic experience!
If you’re going to be visiting Boston and want to see a game at Fenway Park, there are two options: (1) buy tickets through Ticketmaster or RedSox.com or (2) go on Craigslist and hope someone gives away their tickets because they got sick from eating all that clam chowder!
If you’re a fan of the TV show Cheers, then this is definitely a spot that needs to be on your list. Located in Kenmore Square, the bar has been serving drinks since 1882 and was actually the inspiration for the show created by James Burrows and Glen Charles. The series ran from 1982 to 1993 and still remains one of my all-time favorite shows.
While it’s not exactly what it looked like on TV (it now has more seating), they do have a replica bar complete with original signs, photos on the walls and Boston Red Sox memorabilia hanging around. They also have “Norm!” shirts available for sale if you want to represent your favorite character while visiting this Boston gem.
There’s a lot to see in Boston, but if you’re looking for a day trip that will give you the best of what this city has to offer while also providing an authentic experience of its history and culture, head over to Bunker Hill. It also happens to be one of the most historic neighborhoods in all of New England—and it's filled with some excellent restaurants and shops!
The neighborhood is named after the Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolutionary War and has long stood as an emblem of patriotism and sacrifice in Boston.
If you're a history buff, this is a must-see. Old Ironsides was built in 1843 and is the oldest commissioned vessel afloat today. It's also one of the few U.S. military ships to have been preserved at its original berth, making it an incredibly historic sight to behold. This historic ship can be found at the Charlestown Navy Yard and is open to the public between 9am and 5pm on Friday through Monday every week (closed Tuesday).
Boston is a great place to visit. Boston has a lot of history! It was founded in 1630, making it America's oldest settlement. Boston has lots of shops and restaurants that are fun to explore with your friends and makes a great educational trip for the family!!
If you’re looking for something more modern, then check out Newbury Street which has shops like Barney’s New York Co-Op and Louis Boston Hotel + Spa. They also have tons of other stores where locals shop like Burberry Prorsum store on Cambridge Street.
So there you have it, the top 5 things to see in Boston. If you’re planning a trip to the city and want to make sure you don’t miss anything, this list is for you!
